Entry Criteria

Non-salaried Secondary School Direct route through CTSN SCITT/University of Bedfordshire

To be eligible to apply for the non-salaried secondary School Direct route you will need the following:

  • A minimum of a 2.2 degree and at least 50% of your degree should be in the subject you wish to teach
  • A ‘C’ grade or above in English and Maths GCSE
  • To have passed the QTS skills tests in English and Maths before starting the course (not before interview)

Non-salaried Primary School Direct route through CTSN SCITT/University of Bedfordshire

To be eligible to apply for the non-salaried primary School Direct route you will need the following:

  • A minimum of a 2.2 degree
  • A ‘C’ grade or above in English, Maths and Science GCSE
  • To have passed the QTS skills tests in English and Maths before starting the course (not before interview)

In addition:

All candidates must have some recent and relevant experience in a mainstream State school.  Primary (non-salaried) applicants should have completed at least 5 days in Key Stage 1/2 by the time of interview and a total of 10 days by the start of the course.  Secondary applicants should have completed 5 days in a Secondary school.

 

Secondary Salaried School Direct route 

To be eligible to apply for the salaried secondary school direct route you will need the following:

  • A minimum of a 2.2 degree and at least 50% of your degree should be in the subject you wish to teach
  • A ‘C’ grade or above in English and Maths GCSE
  • To have passed the QTS skills tests in English and Maths before starting the course (not before interview)
  • At least three years’ work experience either before or after leaving university

Primary Salaried School Direct route 

To be eligible to apply for the salaried primary school direct route you will need the following:

  • A minimum of a 2.2 degree
  • A ‘C’ grade or above in English, Maths and Science GCSE
  • To have passed the QTS skills tests in English and Maths before starting the course (not before interview)
  • At least three years’ work experience either before or after leaving university

In addition:
